Recommendation: Marilyn Vix

Recommendations

Number 2!

For our second author recommendation we take on a newbie, prospective author coming straight from the successful writing platform Wattpad. This writer has built up an impressive following for her stories, and her original Romance novel, Saving My Heart, has gathered more than 15, 500 reads in Wattpad. She also has a series of novelettes for sale on Amazon under the title Beware of Warlocks.

Recommendation for today: Marilyn Vix.

About the book:

Meet Julie:

She’s spent some good times meeting with her book club in the old mansion. But now the city is going to tear it down. The bulldozers are destroying the guest house as she comes up with an idea. Maybe she can save the old mansion by getting a petition online? With enough people knowing about what was at stake, maybe she could work a miracle.

Her blog and petition get the attention of the young, entrepreneur Peter Mason. He manages his family business restoring historical buildings and turning them into historic hotels. He seems to be the knight in shining armor she has been waiting for.

Meet Peter:

Obsessed with the business he runs with his father, he doesn’t have time for relationships. Mostly, he has a chance to go after a bit of skirt on his own terms. But something strange starts to happen to him. He can’t get Julie out of his mind. It’s new territory, and between the distraction of her being his new assistant, he can’t get anything done. The only thing left to do is include her in his business life.

But being attracted to your boss can be trouble. Especially when you want to keep your summer job. Can she negotiate the baggage of her feelings for Peter and her deceased boyfriend? Especially when Peter’s ex-fiancé arrives on the scene.

They have to overcome their past loves and baggage to finally see the best thing standing in front of them, each other. But letting go might be the hardest part.

About the Author:

Marilyn Vix is a paranormal romance novelist. She enjoys the characters that just don’t fit in. From witches to time traveling researchers, she is letting her imagination soar to explore new worlds and write all the details down. Marilyn has traveled to Paris, Amsterdam, London, Sydney, and Munich. She loves to include these in her settings as much as can allow. Best of all is letting her reader enjoy them through the perspective of a character. She currently lives in Northern California with her husband and cat. The cat, of course, is the center of attention.

Q/A:

The author has been kind enough to answer some questions for the blog and the readers to get to know her better:

1- Which book do you secretly wish you had written?

I kind of wish I’d written “The Martian”. That was so cool how Andy Weir wrote it on his blog and got help from NASA employees. I love writing on the Internet too. I’ve been writing on Wattpad and finished a new adult romance called “Saving My Heart”. He also wrote some fan fiction for Ready Player One, and has it now as part of that book’s universe. I’ve been exploring with fan fiction too, and have it on Wattpad as well. I just think writing these days is so open to new things, especially on-line writing. So much more is possible.

2- What’s your biggest author ambition?

For this year, to sell my first full-length novel and have it come out in print. I’ve been working for two years on it, and I’m very excited about it. I also want to start doing more author talks and speak at writing conference panels. I actually publish under three pen names and I’ve been self publishing since 2009. I have a lot of experience to share with upcoming writers.

3- Do you plan on doing any author events this year or any future releases?

Yes. I’m working on getting the Beware of Warlocks series into print, and selling books at Renaissance Fairs and Art and Wine Festivals in Northern California. I’m also hoping to sell my first full-length novel soon so it will be available to sell in print.
